MAWAB, Compostela Valley Province – A high-ranking NPA leader and his companion were arrested by joint elements of CIDG11, Tagum PNP and 10th Infantry Division at Madaum, Tagum City around 11:15 in the morning, February 16, 2016.
Arrested at a joint AFP-PNP checkpoint were Ariel Arbitrario alias Marlon, the Front Secretary of Guerilla Front 2 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) and Crispolo Arbitrario alias Calvin, member of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Sub-Regional Committee 2 (SRC 2) of SMRC. The duo were arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrests for murder with criminal case numbers 7925 and 6320 respectively, which were filed at RTC Branch 3, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province.
During the arrest, caliber .45 and caliber .38 pistols, one fragmentation grenade, an improvised hand grenade and a handheld radio were recovered from their possession. Ariel Arbitrario alias Marlon is the mastermind of the NPA initiated atrocities in the areas of Maco, Mabini and Pantukan while Crispolo Arbitrario alias Calvin, as a member of the NPA SOG was involved in the killings in the said areas.
MGen. Rafael Valencia, commander of the 10ID lauded the soldiers and policemen who were involved during the arrest. “The arrest of these ranking NPAs manifest that the long arm of the law will ultimately catch up with these outlaws to face justice,” he said. The two arrested NPAs were brought to Davao del Norte CIDG office for documentation and subsequent filing of cases for violation of the Election Gun Ban and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
