CAMP OSITO D BAHIAN, MALAYBALAY CITY – Another member of CPP/NPA voluntarily surrendered to the troops of 2nd Special Forces Company, 1st Special Forces Battalion, Philippine Army based at Brgy. White Kulaman, Kitaotao, Bukidnon on February 10, 2016 at ten o’clock in the morning.
The NPA who was identified as Pablo Gesta, a member of Milisya ng Bayan (MB) bring along with him one (1) M14 rifle with a magazine. The Army troops while conducting barangay visitation at Purok 1 of said barangay were approached by Gesta and willingly confessed his participation to the armed group. Without hesitation, the Army troopers assisted the man to get his rifle at his house. Relatively, a certain Mr. Ricardo Pellaza and his wife, Catalina of Purok 2, also of the said barangay voluntarily surrendered a generator set left to them by the NPA members sometime in September 2015.

Colonel Jesse A. Alvarez, Commander of the 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade lauded the troops and conveyed his message saying, ‘”This is part of the ongoing Bayanihan effort of our troops in the Province of Bukidnon. Many people have now realized that they are victims of false promises of NPA aside from their terrorist acts against helpless civilians. Slowly but surely we are now seeing some of their members and sympathizers looking at peaceful means to effect meaningful change”, Col. Alvarez said
