MAWAB, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE - Three members of the NPA returned to the folds of the law in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental last February 5 and 8, 2016 due hardships and starvation as a result of the relentless operations of the 10th Infantry 'Agila' Division.
Alias Pablo, 21; alias Borjack, 18; and alias Boboy, who are all members of Guerilla Front 71 of the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) of the CPP- NPA sought refuge with the Jose Abad Santos Police and soldiers of 73rd Infantry Battalion for their return to the folds of the law. The true identities of the three former NPAs are being withheld for security reasons.
It can be recalled that the 10th Infantry Division intensified its security operations against the NPAs in Davao Region resulting to series of clashes in the provinces of Davao Occidental and Compostela Valley last February 3, 6 and 7.
The commander of 10ID, MGen Rafael Valencia, earlier said that the 10ID will continue its peace and development initiatives for the people of Davao Region. He, however reiterated that “those who continue to choose the path of violence will be vigorously pursued and defeated using legitimate force.”
On his message to the remaining active NPAs, MGen Valencia said, “We hope that active NPAs will follow what their former comrades did. The CPP- NPA movement has caused lot of broken families, lives wasted and denial of peace and development in communities.”
Based on 10ID records, a total of 23 former rebels coming from different NPA Guerilla Fronts in Regions 11 and 12 have returned to the folds of the law since January 1, 2016 to date.
