MONKAYO, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE (CVP) – Combined elements of 25th Infantry Battalion (25IB) and CVP Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) encountered a group of NPA at Sitio Inupuan, Barangay Mainit, Nabunturan in the early morning of April 2, 2016 resulting to the recovery of 12 high powered firearms (HPFAs) and the body of one dead NPA.

The combined AFP-PNP troops, acting on the reported presence of the NPA, chanced upon a group of around 20 heavily armed members of Guerilla Front (GF) 27 under a certain Lipi holding temporary camp in the area. The twenty-minute firefight resulted to the recovery of the body of one dead NPA, eight M16 rifles, four AK47 rifles, seven improvised grenades, one ICOM radio, medical paraphernalia and subversive documents.

Lt. Col. Ismael P. Mandanas Jr, the Commander of 25IB, thanked the residents in the area for providing vital information that led to the successful combat operations. "The desire of the people in the community to get rid of the NPAs who extort and make their lives miserable, resulted to this decisive encounter," he added. "This incident manifests what our collective effort can achieve in winning the peace in this part of our country," Lt Col Mandanas concluded.

Col. Macairog S. Alberto, Commander of the 1001st Infantry (Pag-asa) Brigade, lauded the soldiers and police for the successful operations. He added that, "this is a big blow to the communist movement whose numbers are steadily diminishing due to the relentless AFP-initiated operations."
