NSFA, Panacan, Davao City- The Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri paid his last official visit at Headquarters Eastern Mindanao Command in Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan, Davao City in the morning of April 6, 2016. Gen. Iriberri was received by Lt. Gen. Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command, together with his staff and was accorded with military honors.
During his visit, Gen. Iriberri congratulated the Command for its efforts in winning and securing the peace in Eastern Mindanao. Again, he also reminded the troops about their role in the May 2016 election emphasizing to them that the Filipinos trust the AFP to make the election safe and secure.
He further urged the troops to continuously do the right things in the performance of their mandated tasks. “Continue doing your job. Gawin lang natin palagi ang tama nang ang ating mga kababayan ay mamuhay ng payapa,” Gen. Iriberri said.
The retiring AFP Chief, who only have 16 days of service left as leader of the country’s military forces will retire at the mandatory age of 56. Following his visit in EMC, he also visited Headquarters 10th ID and 25th Infantry Battalion as his former unit when it was deployed in Davao del Sur in 2001, to also say his farewell adding that he will not let his military career ends without giving thanks to the officers, men and units.
