Troops Prevent NPA’s Terroristic Act in Bukidnon

NSFA, Panacan, Davao City -- Troops under 1st Special Forces Battalion (1SFBn) under the operational control of 403rd Infantry Brigade, 4th Infantry Division encountered the New People’s Army at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, August 5, 2016 at Sitio Kambangon, Brgy Lilingayon, an outskirt community of Valencia City.


The encounter transpired after the troops in coordination with the Philippine National Police in the area responded to the report from the populace that fully armed NPA group have been frequenting their community and forcibly getting food and money from the populace.

The NPAs withdrew out of the engagement area after two hours of fierce gun battle leaving one casualty on the government side (Name is withheld prior to notification of kin). The firefight likewise resulted to the recovery of nine high powered firearms composed of two AK47, two M653, and five M16 A1 rifles; one Improvised Explosive Device; eight AK47, three M14, and one M16 Magazines; one Rifle grenade; five gallons of gas; three Handheld radios, NPA personal belongings and subversive documents of high intelligence value.

The Eastern Mindanao Command under the leadership of Lt General Rey Leonardo B Guerrero expresses grief for the loss of one soldier while commending the troops for their vigilance and prompt action in protecting the communities particularly Bgy Lilingayon, Valencia City, Bukidnon which prevented the lawless armed group from carrying out their terroristic act.

The reports of civilians that led to the incident is a reminder on the part of the lawless armed group that they are not welcome in the communities. That the peaceloving populace do not support armed struggle is enough reason for the NPA to heed the President's call, lay down their arms and abandon armed struggle for lasting peace and inclusive development.
