NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – The Eastern Mindanao Command, on September 7, 2016, welcomes Colonel Adonis Rizon Bajao as its new Chief of Unified Command Staff (CUCS) after the relief of Colonel Erwin Bernard Neri who assumes as the new Task Force Davao Commander.
Prior to his assumption in EastMinCom, Col. Bajao was the former Secretary of Joint Staff in the General Headquarters AFP, and has also headed different units and offices in the Philippine Army. He was the Commander of 78th Infantry Battalion in 2012 and Task Group Leyte in 2014, both of 8th Infantry Division based in Eastern Visayas.
In 2001, the newly installed EMC Chief of Unified Command Staff also spent a year as lecturer in the Training and Doctrine Command of the Philippine Army after his teaching path at the University of the Philippines and Ateneo School of Government. He is also a graduate of Doctor in Public Administration at University of the Philippines Diliman.
His first deployment after graduating from the PMA was in Mindanao where he spent his junior officer years with the 25th Infantry Battalion in various positions; platoon leader to staff officer.
Col. Bajao also commanded various units in the PDE. In 2009, he headed the Special Force SALMAN of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Mindanao.
Colonel Bajao who hails from Digos City, Davao del Sur was cited as 6th Infantry Division’s “Best Officer of the Year” in 1994.
