NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - The Eastern Mindanao Command has activated its Disaster Response Task Force on January 20, 2016 after the continous rain that caused flood and landslide in the different areas of the AOR.
The adhoc Disaster Response Task Force which is being headed by BGen Gilbert Gapay will synchronize and oversee the disaster response effort of the command as the area is continously affected by Low Pressure Area causing floods in different parts of the AOR.
It can be recalled that EMC placed all Disaster units of its subordinate units on red alert after Northern Mindanao was flooded after torrential rains affected the area. Since then Disaster Response Units of 4th Infantry Division, 52nd Engineer Brigade and Tactical Operations Group 10 and their equipment and vehicles were mobilized and dispatched for evacuation, rescue and retrieval operations up to this report.
The aforementioned units are now assisting in post disaster rehabilitation after the weather in Northern Eastern Mindanao has started to normalize.
In a related operations, the 10th Infantry Division mobilized units in Compostela Valley, Davao Norte and Davao Occidental after some communities in these Provinces were flooded after torrential rains affected the areas. In coordination with different Local Disaster Risk Reduction Council, military equipments, vehicles and personnel are being mobilized in rescue, retrieval and rehabilitation as of this report.
Meanwhile, the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao Disaster Response Unit and helicopters of Tactical Operations are on standby for possible deployment in Davao City and other parts of the region.
