Eastern Mindanao remains on High Alert

NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - With the incident in Marawi City wherein Joint AFP-PNP encountered the group of Isnilon Hapilon, Eastern Mindanao Command remained to be on heightened alert after it was raised on May 11, 2017.

After the incident in Marawi, Security operations were intensified in urban areas of Eastern Mindanao particularly Davao City, General Santos City and Cagayan De Oro City to prevent diversionary attacks.

The EMC, in coordination with the Philippine National Police, Local Government Units and other Law Enforcement Agencies, is taking the necessary measures to secure the maritime, coastal and land areas and maintain peace and order.

The EMC reiterates its call for the public to be vigilant but calm, and to immediately report to law enforcement units any suspicious-looking individual or activity in their vicinity.

As to the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, EMC is awaiting guidelines from the Armed Forces of the Philippines on how this will be implemented on the ground.
