MARTIAL LAW UPDATE| Multi Sectoral Advisory Group for Martial Law Implementation Formed

EASTERN Mindanao Command called for the participation of different stakeholders and sectors in the implementation of Martial Law after it was declared by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on May 23, 2017 with the formation and activation of a Multi Sectoral Advisory Group for Martial Law Implementation (MSAGMLI) on May 30, 2017 at Headquarters Eastern Mindanao Command at Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan, Davao City.

The purpose of the activation of MSAGMLI is to ensure accountability and transparency in the implementation of Martial Law. Likewise the formation and activation of the group form part of EMC's effort of an effective, efficient and rule of law adherent implementation by tapping their expertise, advices, recommendations and comments.




During the first meeting discussion dwell most with the legal and the do’s and don’ts in the implementation of the declaration. Further the creation of legal quick reaction teams will be recommended to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines as part of the mechanism of ensuring the rule of law will be adhered to and abuse will be prevented.




The MSAG for MIL is composed of different personalities representing different sectors. They were: Mr. Sebastian Angliongto, Chairman/Business Sector; Prof. Antonio Obsioma, Member/Academe; Ms. Susan Palad, Member/Religious; Mr. Antonio dela Cruz, Member/Business; Mr. Jerry Francisco, Member; Most Rev. Fernando R. Capalla, Religious Sector (Catholic); Prof. Hadji Balajadia, Academe; Datu Mussolini Sinsuat Lidasan, Religious (Islam)/Academe; Atty. Romeo T. Cabarde, Jr., Legal; Ms. Akhzanuniza M. Alonto, MinDA; Dir. Efren Elbanbuena, Media (PIA XI); Atty. Rogelio Largo, Legal (IBP-Davao); and Atty. Mary Ann M. Arnado, Legal/NGO.


The meeting was also attended by officers of Eastern Mindanao Command.
