Stingers Bde, stakeholders launch computer literacy program to Lumads



NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - A Mobile Computer Literacy (MCL) Training dubbed as Project: GAKAL or Gabay Aral sa Kabataang Lumad has been officially launched today, January 23, 2018, by the 402nd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army and their stakeholders at the Municipality of San Miguel, Agusan del Sur.

According to the Facebook post of 402Bde, Project: GAKAL has been implemented through the Philippine Army's Mobile Computer Laboratory. It aims to deliver the most basic educational service and computer literacy to far-flung communities in their Area of Responsibility through the Community Support Program (CSP), benefiting the identified members of marginalized sectors especially the Out-of-School Youth and Indigenous Peoples.

The post added that the Mobile Computer Laboratory is a 40-footer fully-air-conditioned container van assembled with 21 high-technology computers, gadgets, and other equipment intended for Basic Computer Literacy learning.

It also said that the program is in close partnership with the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, Local Government Unit of San Miguel, DepEd-ALS, TESDA, NCIP, DILG, DOLE, KBP, TFOE, APO, Rotary International, SDSSU and the PNP.

Meanwhile, various officials from different stakeholders and municipal officials of San Miguel headed by Mayor Alvaro Elizalde graced the said occasion.
