Accordingly, the said surrenderee is a 46-years old resident of Daticor Compound of the said Brgy. and has been a member of the Underground Mass Organization (UGMO) for three years.

Meanwhile, Governor Uy issued his official statement regarding the rebels who surrendered before the government and the role of Provincial Local Government Unit on these surrenders:
“The Provincial Government of Compostela Valley welcomes the influx of former rebels who decided to denounce their allegiance with the New People’s Army and go back to the folds of law. Their decision is a step forward in our goal to achieve lasting peace and stability in our communities.
As local chief executive and Regional Peace and Order Council Chair for Davao Region, I am aware how crucial the role of the local government units in this drive to bring peace to our people. Local government units stand in the frontline of law enforcement, delivery of social services and information dissemination. Moreover, LGU’s also have a fine grasp on the dynamics of peace and conflict in their respective localities. This knowledge coupled with the AFP’s resources surely spells half of our pursuit to bring an end to armed conflicts in our province.
We were able to achieve this leap through the strengthened coordination between the local government units and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The Provincial Government along with all constituent municipal and barangay governments will never waver from its responsibility. The Local Government Code of 1991 tasks local government units to take part in the maintenance of peace and order in their areas of jurisdiction.
We will continue and even enhance the implementation programs that aim to solve the insurgency problem. We will soon launch the improved Comprehensive Local Integration Program to facilitate the reintegration of our former rebels into the society. We will continue to bring social services closer to our people through our initiatives like the Bayanihan para sa Sambayanan, Bayanihan para sa Karunungan, and Kusina ng Kalinga. These we embark to ensure that we create an environment conducive for peace.”
On the other hand, Major General Noel S. Clement, the Commander of 10ID lauded the Governor’s effort in attaining peace in the said Division’s area of responsibility.
“Regional Peace and Order Council is truly an effective instrument in bringing down the CPP-NPA terrorists’ capability in terms of manpower and firearms. With the local officials headed by the Governor and people’s support and cooperation, it’s just matter time for all parts of the Region that all remaining CPP-NPA terrorists and its supporters will redeem allegiance to our government,” he said.
