Twenty-five (25) farmers who are members of Bio-Organic Farming of Brgy Lindoy were given twenty-one (21) packs of 3.2 variety seedlings and two (2) sacks of 160 variety seedlings which can accommodate 9.1 hectares of farmland.
The seedling distribution is part of the sustainment efforts of the Project KaPALAYApaan in the province of Surigao del Sur. It is one way that the 36th Infantry Battalion can reach out and connect to the communities as part of its efforts in addressing poverty and alleviating the normal lives of the Surigaonons towards an environment conducive for peace and development
“Through this seedling distribution, we are looking forward to alleviating the plight of the farmers to help and extend whatever help we could offer and looking for a successful and bountiful harvest in three months’ time that could lead to self-sustainment and eventually a source of organic rice production in the near future. We have partnered with other stakeholders who share our common goals of serving the people to attain peace and development in the community. Your 36IB will always be your committed partner to bring programs and projects to every community,” he added.
The project kaPALAYapaan is a program for the farming sector and a convergence of stakeholders that aims to increase the farm production of the farmers, promotes organic farming, and introduces new farming techniques.
