Snowball of Surrender continues in Eastern Mindanao



NSFA, Camp Panacan, Davao City - Since January 1, 2019, about 29 NPA fighters and 14 members of the Militiang Bayan surrendered to the different units of EMC and different Local Government Units in Eastern Mindanao.

Over the week on January 21, 2019, @MYLEN, 27 years old Mansaka Tribe, Platoon Medic of CPP-NPA Terrorist Group in the boundary of Compostela and Davao Oriental together with other three other NPAs identified as @ Loloy, 19 years old, @Res, 18 years old and @ Cindy 16 years old surrendered to 67th Infantry Battalion at Sitio Maylaya, Malibago, Cateel, Davao Oriental.

On a separate incident, another head of NPA Medical in Bukidnon identified as @JAMAICA, 27 years old yielded to 8IB on January 21, 2019, at Brgy Poblacion, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, bringing along with her one Carbine Cal.30.

Meanwhile, on January 24, 2019, two NPAs identified as @FRECK/JADE a former supply officer of CNTG in Maco, CVP, and @FINO, Finance voluntarily surrendered without firearms to 71IB at H71IB, Purok 8, Brgy Nueva Visayas, Mawab, CVP.

Further, a certain @PASYO, 250600 January 2019, member of the NPA in Catel, Davao Oriental voluntarily surrendered to 67 Infantry Battalion bringing along with him with one M16A1 rifle at Brgy Central, Cateel, Davao Oriental.

MGen. Felimon T. Santos Jr., Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command assessed that the flock of surrender will create an impact on the peace and security situation in the region and expressed optimism that more CNTs will surrender in the coming days.

"The surrender of our brother sill surely create an impact on the peace and security situation in the region as it will contribute to the collapse of the CNT organization. Our effort together with other agencies of government, the different local government units of addressing the root cause of insurgency will continue and expand, more so with the institutionalization of “Whole of Nation Approach through EO 70 and Expanded Comprehensive Local Integration Program, we are optimistic that this will encourage more of our lost and deceived brothers to go back to the folds of the law," MGen. Santos Jr. said.
