NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - Eastern Mindanao Command Commander Lt. General Felimon T. Santos Jr., bestowed the Wounded Personnel Medal to three wounded personnel of 1002nd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army during his visit at Camp Panacan, Station Hospital, Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan Davao City in the afternoon of July 4, 2019.
The three soldiers are part of the combine elements of 1002nd Infantry Brigade composed of 39th Infantry Battalion and 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion who figured in an encounter against an undetermined number of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at Brgy Abnate, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur on July 01, 2019 at 09:45 o’clock in the morning after responding to the reported extortion activities of the said group in the said area.
The three were identified as Sgt Kenneth O Balicot who sustained a foot injury caused by an M203 splinter; Cpl Melgar B Requiron who sustained an injury on his head also caused by an M203 splinter and Cpl Randy T Bacarro, who suffered a gunshot wound on his shoulder.
The CNTG left an M16 rifle; an International Humanitarian Law banned landmine and subversive documents as they hastily scamper to different directions.
"We appreciate your display of the finest tradition of soldiery. You courageously and unselfishly responded to the call of duty to ensure the safety of our communities. With these, you brought honor not only to your self and the Armed Forces but also to the communities whom we are serving" Lt Gen. Santos cited.
