Fleeing NPA leaves dead comrade, firearms after clash with Army Troops



NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - A group of NPAs operating in an uninhabited area of KM 17 Barangay Besigan, Cagayan de Oro City left behind their dead member after operating troops from the 65th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army engaged them in a 15-minute firefight on February 12, 2020.

According to the report of 65th IB, the clash erupted after a platoon led by 1lt. Daug received information from the community's residents that a group of more or less 10 NPA terrorists were extorting food supplies, prompting the government troops to conduct a security operation.


Recovered also by the troops at the encounter site were two M16 rifles, one M4 carbine, one bandolier containing five magazines loaded with one hundred thirty-seven rounds of ammunition, two backpacks with personal belongings, and assorted medical supplies.

As of this writing, The cadaver was already turned-over to Cagayan de Oro City Police Officer for proper disposition and identification.
