2FAB Empowers Women, Installs Female Battery Commander

MALUNGON, Sarangani - The 2nd Field Artillery (First Round Accuracy) Battalion (2FAB) installs its female Battery Commander in a simple ceremony at Bravo Battery Headquarters in Sitio Pulutana, Bgy Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani with LTC ROSA MA CRISTINA ROSETE-MANUEL, the Presiding Officer and Battalion Commander of 2FAB, Army Artillery Regiment (AAR), Philippine Army.

The new Bravo Battery Commander, 1LT MONNIT C ANDRINO assumed her post replacing CPT JORRY A VINLUAN, the outgoing Battery Commander after completing his 2 years’ tour-of-duty serving two Infantry Brigades, 1001st and 1002nd Brigades.

The latter will be reassigned to the Headquarters AAR in Fort Magsaysay for his career advancement.

CPT VINLUAN was awarded with a Military Merit Medal for his successful stint as Bravo Battery Commander aside from a Plaque of Recognition for his services rendered to 2FAB.

Meanwhile, 1LT ANDRINO, who hails in Davao City and recently completed the Field Artillery Officer Advance Course, served as the Assistant Operations Officer of 2FAB prior to her assumption.

"I thank you ma’am for the trust and confidence you have entrusted me to be among your Battery Commanders. I will see to it that with the cooperation of our personnel here in Bravo, we will contribute and accomplish the unit's mission in support to 10ID and AAR," 1LT ANDRINO said in her assumption speech.

As a challenge to 1LT ANDRINO, LTC ROSETE-MANUEL gave her guidance and assured her support to the latter.

"Always remember that your relationship with your supported units should be if prime importance. Aggressively engage them as your primary stakeholder by ensuring your presence and active participation during mission planning, focused military operation, and in other important activities where your unit can contribute to the accomplishment of their mission. Rest assured that we will rally behind you and support all your endeavors," she said.

The 2FAB Commander ended her message with a quote from Vince Lombardi.

"The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined efforts of each individual."

2FAB is a supporting unit of the 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division, Philippine Army responsible in providing field artillery cannon fire in its area of responsibilities (AOR) in Region 11 and parts of Region 12.

LT ANDRINO’s area of operation covers the AOR of the 1002nd Infantry Brigade in Davao del Sur, Sarangani and parts of North Cotabato.
