
The recovered arms cache was a result of the revelations of alias "SARA", one of the wounded NPA members left to die by her fleeing comrades during an encounter with the 27th Infantry Battalion in Calinan District last September 9, 2020.

Subject NPA was rescued by the 27th Infantry Battalion and brought to SPMC by the 1003rd Infantry Brigade for medical treatment.
The Brigade has earned the trust and confidence of alias "SARA" because of the proper treatment provided to her.
The nine (9) firearms, all in operational condition consist of seven (7) M16 rifles, one (1) M653 rifle, and one (1) AK 47 rifle.

The firearms are now subject to documentation and processing to establish their origins.
For the period since the September 9 clash in Calinan District, Davao City, the NPA group had lost 16 firearms to the government troops.
It also lost seven (7) members who were either killed, captured, or surrendered.
The CTG has been known to notoriously imposing extortion and mass recovery activities across Davao City, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte, and parts of Bukidnon Province.

Brigadier General Nolasco A Mempin, Commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, lauded his troops for their display of deep respect to human rights in reference to the capture and treatment of alias "SARA" and of the other NPA members that gave way to the successful discovery of the arms cache.
"We will be relentless in our mandated task as protectors of the people until lasting peace is finally established in all communities under our Area of Responsibility. We are calling on everyone to be committed and be part of the Culture of Security our local leaders are espousing," BGen Mempin added.
