2FAB Women Empowerment, Work Excellence receives nod from AAR Commander

- Army Artillery Regiment Commander Brigadier General Romulo Manuel Jr. PA praises 2nd Field Artillery “First Round Accuracy” Battalion (2FAB) for its thrust in women empowerment and becoming a dynamic and efficient component of the army artillery regiment during its 33rd Founding Anniversary last October 24, 2020, at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Brgy Tuboran in Mawab, Davao De Oro.

In his keynote speech, Brigadier General Manuel Jr. said that 2FAB’s success has brought so much pride and inspiration not only to the Artillery regiment but to the Philippine army as well.

“For the past 33 years, 2FAB has evolved into a dynamic and efficient component of the army artillery regiment in keeping up with its primary role in timely and accurate artillery fires in this part of the country,” Brigadier General Manuel said.

We give equal opportunity to the female personnel in the army artillery regiment, the installation of the female, battalion, and battery commanders mirror the genuine commitment of army artillery regiment in pursuing gender and development among its personnel.” Brigadier General Manuel Jr. added.

It can be remembered that 2FAB has installed 1LT. Monnit Adriano as battery commander of Bravo Company replacing Capt. Jory Vinluan last September 2020, adding a female officer in its unit.

Also, Brigadier General Manuel said that his office recorded zero cases of sexual harassment towards its 170 female personnel under the army artillery regiment.

On the other hand, 2FAB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Col. Ma. Cristina Rosete-Manuel FA (GSC) PA showcase to its guests the rich history and notable milestones of the unit towards becoming one of the premier artillery battalion of the Army Artillery Regiment of the Philippine Army through a video presentation.

From 2015 to 2017 the unit delivered a total of 47 fire missions resulting in the neutralization of numerous enemy personalities, and the recovery of high-powered firearms they gave fire support to ground troops in various places in Mindanao.

During the pandemic, 2FAB has conducted 37 fire missions from the third quarter of 2019 up to date and also adjudged as the best artillery battalion in the same year.

In her welcome remarks, Lt. Col Rosete-Manuel said that the unit vows to continue to transcend and not just sustain. Ltc Manuel thanked her troops for its unwavering support and commitment to her leadership.

“I am personally grateful to my predecessors for preparing this unit for me. To the men and women of 2FAB, the achievement of the unit is because of your commitment to serve. As we continue to move forward in transcending the gains while pursuing excellence,” Lt. Col Rosete-Manuel said.

2FAB also awarded honorary “King of Battle” tabs to several military officials from outside the unit, donned ranks, and awards to its troops, while several external stakeholders were also feted during the event.

Brigadier General Romulo Manuel Jr. encourages the men and women of 2FAB to continue performing respective functions with zeal and commitment and to continue to strike excellence in their undertakings.
