
MATI CITY, Davao Oriental - Adverse bad weather, remote distance, and the slippery route will not stop the team of LTC ENRIQUE RAFAEL, Executive Officer of 701st Infantry Brigade and 1LT JHOCELL ASIS together with 1LT FRANCIS HERNAEZ of 66th Infantry Battalion, 1103rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion of PNP and youth volunteers from Lumon Community to bring the basic services at Sitio Bitanagan, Brgy. Old Macopa, Manay, Davao Oriental.
On the same day is the Launching of Project HALIK (Health, Agriculture, Livelihood, Indigenous Culture, Knowledge) on October 29, 2020, at 8:00 AM.
For almost three (3) hours of walking the team arrived in Sitio Bitanagan and attended an Inter-Religious Mass presided by Rev. Father Pedrito Paciano Mapayo in celebration of their Patronal Fiesta of "Birhen sa Fatima."

Immediately after the mass, the team delivered services "Operation Tuli", Giving of School Supplies, Distribution of Food Packs from DSWD Region XI, and turnover of six (6) units solar panels from the Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao Oriental that benefited by the 102 households beneficiaries in the community.
Hon. Jemwel Masanguid, member of Barangay Local Government Unit - Old Macopa Council, expressed his gratitude to 701st Infantry Brigade, 66IB, PNP, Lumon Community, and other organizers. He also said that he was grateful that in spite of the distance and road condition caused by the heavy rains these past few days, the team still pursued the activity.
"Salamat kay karong adlawa kamo nibuhi sa among mga kasing-kasing. Salamat kay bisag layo ni anhi jud mo karong adlawa. Nakita namo ang dakong suporta sa gobyerno sa amoa. Suportahan nato ang atong gobyerno," Tita Bacca, Sitio President said.

LTC Rafael in his message said that the activity was part of the EO70 targeting Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and was a concerted effort towards Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict.
"Thank you to the barangay officials for maintaining peace and order. Because of your cooperation, we have activities like these. It is a manifestation that a peaceful environment is conducive for development. Don't allow threat groups to manipulate your lives. They are a hindrance to our progress. The government is sincere on its call for peace so I reiterate the call for the remaining Communist NPA Terrorists to lay down their arms and go back to the mainstream of society," LTC Rafael, added.
Project HALIK is a youth community peace and development initiatives bringing basic services of the government to the far-flung communities in Davao Oriental.
