Kaibigan troopers score anew; capture NPA firearm and subversive documents

MAWAB, Davao de Oro - The 71st Infantry "Kaibigan" Battalion clashes with the communist terrorist group in Maco, Davao de Oro on October 19, 2020.

While on Focus Military Operations, troops of 71st IB encountered an undetermined number of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNT) in Brgy. Elizalde, Maco, Davao de Oro.

The firefight lasted for five minutes which resulted in the capture of one (1) 9mm Luger KG with serial number 974863, one (1) magazine with 17 9mm live ammunition, 4 empty shells, one (1) improvised shotgun, four (4) 12gauge ammo, one (1) Samsung cellphone with charger, one (1) flashlight with batteries, one (1) FM radio, four (4) backpacks with personal belongings and subversive documents.

The terrorists scampered to different directions after the firefight in which bloodstains were discovered indicating casualties while troops were scouring the area.

Locals tipped off their whereabouts as a result of the awareness of the community on the deception and lies of these terrorists.

It can be recalled that last July 31, 2020, the municipality conducted a Maco-wide peace rally condemning the CPP-NPA-NDF for their terroristic acts and banning these terrorists from entering their community by declaring them as Persona-Non-Grata.

"Peace is hampered by these terrorists who keep on fighting a useless cause, an ideology that will bring them nowhere," said Lieutenant Colonel Sonny E Gonzales, Commander of 71st IB.

"We will be relentless in our focused military operations in running after these terrorists until they will be all neutralized. However, our door is open for those who want to return to the folds of the law. Our government is very much willing to help them for their surrender and enroll in the E-CLIP for them to start a new life," Gonzales added.
