People’s Organization (PO) from Conflict Affected Areas receives P300,000.00 worth of Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under EO 70



PAQUIBATO, Davao City - The Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) office of Region XI, handed-over the Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (300,000.00) worth of Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under EO 70 to the members of Mapula Banana Planters Association (MBPA) at Brgy Mapula, Paquibato District, Davao City on September 30, 2020.

The program is one of the interventions offered by the DSWD under Executive Order 70 (EO) to end local communist armed conflict by addressing the issues exploited by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).

The SLP was received by Mr. Reynante Olaniag, the head of the MBPA composed of 22 residents of Brgy Mapula, PDDC.

The granting of SLP was graced by no less than the EO 70 DSWD XI Focal Person Mr. Kerwin Gabasa and Ms. Phyllis Laine M Venus, DSWD Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and witnessed by LTC VICTORINO M SEÑO, Commander of 27th Infantry Battalion, LTC DONALD GAFFUD, 1003rd Infantry Brigade Executive Officer, PCT DE DIOS, Deputy Station Commander, PNP PDDC and the local officials of Barangay Mapula headed by Honorable Flora Manyawron, the Barangay Chairman.


During the handover of SLP funds, Mr. Gabasa emphasized the concerted efforts of the government in addressing local armed conflict by delivering programs and services to conflict-affected areas.

"Exercise proper management of resources you received from the government and utilize it properly to enhance your livelihood and generate additional considerable income," he said.

Meanwhile, LTC SEÑO encourages the beneficiaries to include the residents and local officials to unite and support EO and do not be deceived by the deceptive propaganda of the CTG. The government is always here for you and will help you in the establishment of a peaceful and conflict resilient community where development will flourish. 


It can be recalled that on 15 September during the closing ceremony of the Peace Building Seminar in Barangay Lumiad, PDDC, several heads and representatives from government agencies offered their respective programs and services to the participants in connection with the government’s effort in ending local communist armed conflict.

In response, Honorable Flora Manyawron, the Barangay Chairman conveys her utmost appreciation to the DSWD and the military for continuously reaching out and helping her barangay.

She also encourages her constituents to embrace the government’s efforts and unite to quell CTG’s influence in their community.
