
The training activity, spearheaded by the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training G8 sought to provide 52E troops with comprehensive knowledge and enhance understanding of the ICS key principles, structures and concepts as effective tools for disaster response and incident management.

COL Francis Marlon Wong, Deputy Brigade Commander led the formal opening of the training. In his welcome remarks, he encouraged everyone to continue pushing the imperative of disaster preparedness and response capabilities to manage the impact of natural or man-made calamity. Awareness and a good understanding of the consequences of the emergency will save more lives and properties.
Subject matters experts served as resource speakers namely: Office of Civil Defense Regional Office X, Regional Director Rosauro Arnel Gonzales Jr, and Mr. Jessie Jim Fajardo. The SMEs also provided ICS activity scenarios containing different real-life stories, data, and figures.
The training was concluded with closing remarks from the Brigade Commander, BGEN Rommel Hinlo.
In his remarks, he stressed that “Disaster can strike anytime, anywhere. It takes many forms- a typhoon, flooding, fire, landslide, or an act of terrorism. In Eastern Mindanao, we are frequented with flooding and just last year, a series of earthquakes hit us. An incident can happen over days or weeks, or suddenly without warning,” BGen Hinlo added.
