Former UGMO Members Receive Training and Starter Kits from BFAR XI

– Combined efforts of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI headed by Kher Dave Doños and City Agri-Davao led by Mr. Roy Jaca, together with the Community Development Team (CDT) spearheaded by CDT Officer 2LT XON YMR ZOE SAMILLANO, Modified Community Support Program (MCSP) Team of Charlie Company, 27th Infantry (Action) Battalion in collaboration with the local officials of Brgy Lumiad headed by Hon. Celso Bughao Sr facilitated the 2-day Training on Post-Harvest Technology of Various Fisheries Products on November 12, 2020.

The training catered to 30 individuals from six (6) People’s Organization (PO) in Brgy Lumiad and Paquibato Proper both of Paquibato District, Davao City.

The Post-Harvest Technology of Various Fisheries Products training aims to value-add the fresh product of the POs and provide skills to the participants in connection with Tilapia processing such as Tilapia Lamayo, Tilanggit (Tilapia Danggit), and Tilapia Tocino. The activity highlights the lectures on fish handling, fish processing technologies, Tilapia Processing, and the actual Packaging and Labeling.

During the closing, representatives from different POs give their impressions and extend their gratitude to all the facilitators for continuously reaching out and sharing knowledge and skills. Aside from imparting relevant knowledge and skills, BFAR XI also distributes starter kits such as fish dryer, processing equipment and utensils, sealer, and fishnets.

Meanwhile, BFAR XI and Mr. Roy Jaca, Municipal Agricultural Officer (MAO), commit to continue extending their services to the community especially to the conflict-affected areas in Paquibato District in collaboration with the LGU and the 27th Infantry “ACTION” Battalion. In response, the 27th Infantry Battalion represented by LT SAMILLANO conveys her utmost appreciation to BFAR XI, MAO, and the local officials of Brgy Lumiad for the collaborative efforts in realizing the activity in support of the members of the people’s organization who were former members of the underground mass organization (UGMO).

She then encouraged the POs to continue supporting the government initiatives and refrain from being agitated by the deceptive propaganda of the NPA terrorist.

Expressing his appreciation to the successful conduct of the activity for his constituents, Hon. Celso Bughao Sr, Brgy Chairperson of Lumiad said “Nakita na nato ang ginahimo sa goberyno para sa ikauswag sa atong komunidad. Nakita na nato ang serbisyo na atong ginalauman mao nga kita dili ta moundang sa pagsuporta sa goberyno ilabi na nga walay undang ang panaghiusa sa lain laing ahensya sa goberyno sa paghatag sa proyekto ug serbisyo sa atoang komunidad.”
